IWC Cousteau band question

Forgive my noob-esque question, but I'm a stranger in a strange land with IWCs--how exactly does one (properly) remove the band from this case. Is the metal dot underneath the band near the case-back a release-button of sorts, or do you simply push the pins out from the sides of the lugs? not looking to destroy this piece. :)

Thanks in advance.

Yes...exactly as you said.

The back has a button, you push that in and you push the metal pin out.

If it is real right, you might be denting up the lug ends...has happened plenty of times. Make sure you don't use something oversized in the hold if you need to push, don't want to screw up the end lugs.

If sized just right, it should just slide right out.

Also, if it is real tight, it is a ridiculous feat of coordination to push the button in while getting the pin out. Once it is out enough, you can grab and pull straight with some needle nose.

Good luck. I broke a pin trying to get one back in. Impossible to find another one. I have since sanded down the pins to slide in easier.

The only thing you can really do in that case is make sure the pin holding the strap to the case is centered in the lugs, and try wiggling/finessing the release button to see if you can coax it back up.

The good thing with the strap on the Cousteau is that the button is not integrated in the case, but rather the strap. If need be, you can always get a replacement...

I use a toothpick to depress the button.. when I reinsert the pin the button may need to be depressed again.. as Ubi says it needs to pop back flush with the bracelet.. if it doesn't "poke" at the button with the tooth pick.. or give it a tap with your finger from the outside of the bracelet.. that usually releases it from the open position.. but I use loctite "bolt" fastener on the pins in my reps.. just to be on the safe side..

The DSSd especially, with the weight of the case the pins get loose easily..

As long as the pins are sized right, should be a 10 second operation. It is when the pins are large, or the strap holes are not fitting well due to the construction of the strap ends and how flush they fit against the lugs/body of the case. Then it is a hassle.
