Broke my darn UPO 2824 movement!

I am currently trying to do my second UPO mod project, I got my case completed (crystal, bezel insert, crown and tube) then i went and rushed the datewheel swap and fell out with the tricky little spring that holds the datewheel in and pulled it off!!

I have knacked the 2824 movement and will need a new one,

Anyone know where I can get a gen 2824 with a proper ETA datewheel from?

Im afraid I dont fancy doing the datewheel swap myself as my patience is so poor!!!

If the movement just needs the spring for the datewheel, you should be able to get a watchmaker to do the repair more cost effectively than getting a new ETA movement.

I made the mistake of handling the movement with bare hands during my frustration and was a little forceful, I am happy to cut my losses and start again, would be nice to have a gen datewheel already fitted, I can do all the other mods, but this one drives me mad!

If this is going to be a keeper watch, you should take the opportunity to swap in a 2892 instead ;)

Ubi, when doing a swap of a 2824 with a 2892, how do you accomodate the thinner movement and stem alignment with the case? I know they are same width so no movement holder is needed for that...but the thinner movement I thought caused problems with angling the stem in the case.

Specifically on his, yes, but pinions are swappable when necessary. His situation may have been an isolated case due to the pinions utilized with the watch/model he sourced for the donor.
