Bobbywaingro
I was browsing around and saw the 3717 with the 21j movement that is around 100usd. And it struck me as a possible shortcut if you are going to change the movement for a swiss ETA. Is it possible or are the inner workings of the case much more sophisticated to make an easy swap of the movement in this way? I
FxrAndy
There is nothing wrong with the a7750, any the hands wont fit and neither will the dial.
Bobbywaingro
Thank you for making that clear, theese movements are making me confused I just thought that making a switch to Swiss would also mean that you didn´t have to change the datewheel? ....so many mods and so many ways to go about it Edited February 19, 2010 by Bobbywaingro
FxrAndy
Bobby if you want a 3717 then go and buy an version 3 asian 7750, get it serviced and lumed, buy ETA day and date wheels and you will have 99% at 10% of the price, if the watch that will last almost forever as long as you get it serviced every 5 years, or just buy a V3 and use it, if you fall in love with it then get it modded

ubiquitous
The 7750 (Asian or Swiss) likely wouldn't be a direct swap to the 21j case anyways. I don't believe they have the same back/forward spacing with the stem, so it's likely that the stem wouldn't align center in the tube. My advice is to go with the standard A7750 3717 and mod accordingly...
Toadtorrent
Like Ubi said...don't go from the 21j to the 7750 option. Aside from movement fit options, the dials will possibly be printed differently as the functions of the a21j movements varies so sometimes the subdial registers are 24h counters, etc...so may look funny. Hammy1
I see where you where going and it sounds good on paper if everything were the same except for the movement, but that's usually not the situation with these reps. A 3717 "Lite" if you will sound great. Unfortunately doesn't exist though. I've never seen closeups on the 21J but I would suspect the dial, case, crystal, etc are not as good as the v3 A7750 version even if it fit (which it doesn't). So get a v3 with ETA day/date wheels and aftermarket AR crystal, you've got a winner. I have ETA date wheel, German day wheel, and AR crystal inbound from takashi on RWI. Now I just need to find a good price on a watch. I toyed with the idea of the ETA 7750 but that double the price of the project so decided it could wait. Can't see it anyway. Is the crystal and day/datewheel swap something you could manage to do yourself (with the right tools) or is it more complicated than you might think? FxrAndy
I dont see any real need to upgrade the AR on a 3717 as rep is more gen like then chiefs, just that chiefs is better than the gen

It's not as disappearing as chieftang but supposedly made to gen spec and much better than rep. Some of the rep crystals have some yellow tint making the dial markers/hands look tainted. The takashi crystal lets the watch look cleaner. There are pics on 2geeks.net and search RWG for more info.
