andreww Posted March 2, 2010 Report Share Posted March 2, 2010 Slitty, I felt that way throughout the whole tournament, that each Canadian player played their roles perfectly. Canada was very good at winning the small battles on the ice, meaning face-offs and battles on the boards. Defensively they were great, and even though Luongo coughed up a lot of rebounds, his defense quickly cleared them. Canada was very efficient at avoiding the penalty box while still playing an unbelievably physical game. I'm really proud of all of them, and would never be able to select an MVP. Miller's butterfly goaltending approach failed him on Sid's goal - hit it high. If miller stood, might have stopped it. Big European ice would have been a huge advantage for the US team. Guys like Kane could skate circles around Pronger there. Generally, big defensemen like him are a dying breed with the new offside rule. Game has become faster now that teams can't play with neutral zone trap anymore. Small dmen (who can skate) like Rafalski, Zidlicky and Kimmo Timonen are hot stuff now. In the 1990's they wouldn't have even make it to the NHL. Just a side note...
