Ronin
As I start my 1680 project, I am looking for tips/tricks/consensus on Cyclops to date window alignment. In a perfect world I would love to assemble the case entirely before the movement goes in. So I wonder, what do you guys do? A.) Install the movement w/dial, then crystal and align cyclops B.) Build up case, install crystal, using tube/crown as a reference TIA
highoeyazmuhudee
I do it backwards to convention. I install the dial on the movement, put it in the case , reinsert the crown and stem and use that to line it up through the tube to center it. check the out side of the case for alignment using a small plastic right angle ruler to make sure its squared. then i install the hands, dust the dial and hands using compressed air at 1/3 of its power, clean the crystal and install it over the dial and case aligning with the date window. I like to build the watch once it's in the case that way if reinserting the crown stem into the movement i screw up the keyless works i dont run the risk of damaging the dial or hands when i have to remove them to access the keyless works. has worked out well for me thus far
