I ve posted this on the movement Q & A section but I thought I'd share it here too. Please refer to the link and experts if you could help with advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Yep, it's definitely time for a service. That's an old tudor movement and the basic rule is to service every 5 years. Sure you can go 7, maybe even 10, but you're dealing w/ a movt that's what, maybe 20 yrs old? Heck, the 2824 came out in the early 80's, so your movt may be 30 yrs old+.

Also, since its keeping good time when being used. will the constant use of the watch before the service cause any damage to the movement?

It probably won't make much difference now, but if the movement is dry, which it certainly seems like with an 8 hour power reserve, why take the chance. stop it or let it run down and take it to your watchmaker and get it serviced. No need to make things worse. Those are probably some of the most rugged, bomb proof movements around, but they are like any other machine with moving parts, they need lubrication.
