Has anyone tried liquid gold plating?

I want to gold plate some of my watch parts (mainly screws and bezels). I have heard about liquid gold plating. Has anyone used it before? Does it work?

If so, I tried this with limited success.

The issue is in identifying what metal you are plating!

(Same applies to dip plating)

I recently sold my kit, as i was unhappy with the results.

The metals I need to be gold plated are stainless steel. Will it work?

The bottom line of the advert says-

Note: This item will not work on stainless steel, lead, pewter or lacquered metal or nonmetallics.

I guess the answer is No!
