Question for Vintage Daytona Gurus

tortured

Recommended Posts

I am looking for some guidance on an idea I have. This will probably make some purists cringe though. Can anyone tell me if the Newman dials DW sell will fit in the modern 16520 Daytona case? I do understand the differences between the case sizes, asymetrical pushers, bracelet, crownguards and probably a few other items I am missing. My initial idea was to do almost a hybrid if you will between vintage and modern. I currently have an eta 7750 daytona seconds at 9 with the completely wrong subdial spacing(yes it came from a scam dealer with a ridiculous price) I was thinking just doing a dial swap. Then I thought about kicking it up a notch and having Pbdad do the swap and shave the crownguards off. It still wont be accurate to Gen but might make a nice one of a kind piece. Spinmaster brought up a valid concern that dial may not fit modern case though. Does this project seem feasible or just a waste of time/energy/money? Thanks.

Your Newman dial would have to be for a 7750 movt and even then it might not fit in a 40mm 16520 case.

Pull the dial out of your 16520 rep and measure it. But my guess is the vintage dials are probably still going to be smaller.
