What do you girls think of the 250 or the 312?

What do you girls think of the 250 or the 312?

Have two trades for my rare and genuine 219J on the table

One is for a 250K and the other a 312K

Not sure if I am in love with either. Matt doesn't seem to overly wowed by the 250 and the only 1950 44 mm case I really like is the 243

My best scenario would be to sell the 219J and buy a 219K-L or a 112 for a lot less money

What do you bozos think?

Right now I am leaning toward keeping the 219 and seeing if a nice JV brown (exactly like the one Tswiss has on his 112) might make it sing better

312 All day for me.

For me you lose at lot of the OP look with the 250, much too busy and just looks like a Chrono from any make

The 312 has a clean dial lovely xtal all the traditions of OP for me with a really original look, Fifties style case thick crystal everything that makes me drool with PAMs

And as a smaller point whenever I have had comments on watches its always my fifties style PAMs the dome Xtal etc. I have never had so many positive comments from people and especially from women, even strangers have remarked on my watch or pointed it out to thier husbands.

And considering a lot of people think I look like I am going to rape or rob them , men and women!! :) I very rarely get anyone starting a conversation with me when I am allowed out...

312 everytime mate

Hold on I just thought considering its you I suggest a J12 to go with those girlie wrists of yours also you wont have to take it off when your trawling the pornanet for those farmyard shots you like so much..... ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but 312 is a 44mm 1950 case with a luminor-like almost flat crystal. That, the anemic crown, and the movement rotor that looks like it was made out of reynolds aluminum foil kill the look in my opinion.

hey bro,

You have basically spoken from your heart and decided to keep your 219 which is a great choice. Don't trade if you don't like those mentioned pams

250: the dial looks way too busy and does not embodies Pams elegance and simplicity. If you want a chrono maybe IWC wud be the best address.

312: In general, it's an handsome looking watch but the flat shappire and the hotchpotch design doesn't cut it for me.

If he was dangling a 243 T dial I would jump but the 312 does nothing for me. I do like the GMT version but I just bought my Gen 297 a week ago

Another option is an 087 but no box and papers. I have plenty of box and papers and I don't give a damn about them but I like to keep complete sets for future trades ect

Dunno the 219J looks awefully nice on the New Mario Paci I just put on

Was looking at a 312 in an AD yesterday. They are very cool looking watch. So I agree with peteM.

The fiddy style case in 44mm is really sweet. Given the quality of our 7753 chrongraph reps I would be very reluctant to spend that sort of cash on a gen version.

There isn't a decent 312 rep so that makes it more attractive. Agree the GMT and PR versions would be even better.

Thing is you could probably get a DSN 219 if you missed it too much.

i'll go with the 312.. it has much better wrist presence than the 250, plus at least you get a in-house movt.. i wasn't a fan of the 312 until i tried one on my wrist.. almost got one, but i already had a mini fiddy style gen in my 233i, so passed on the 312 :whistling:

I would like to see a quality chronograph rep of 250, did I miss this one?

Nope mate, it hasn't been a decent one made so far. The V1 of 196 rep is much closer than any 250 rep made so far, IMO.

And I share some of your sentiments towards the 312...it was almost like - "hmm, we're really running out of ideas and things you can do with our 3 types of cases and 10 types of dials, so let's make this time a mishmash of bits and pieces we can throw into a single watch"

I'm all for new designs and ideas but IMO the flat Luminor xtal doesn't fit Fiddy-style case, it was originally designed with the domed xtal in mind and it should have remained that way. The date window on Fiddy watch is also something I'm unable to savor...sorry folks. -_-

Thank you, B! This exactly what I was trying to say. All this talk about Panerai DNA in new models is just that - talk. 312 is a mainstream product, a polished concoction trying to appeal to people just grazing the the brand's legacy. It's trying to incorporate everything ultimately showing lack of character - jack of all trades master of none. It could be the wine talking but to me real Panerai DNA ended with 'D'.

Thanks All I think I'm going to keep the 219J after all so it can snuggle with my gen 177H

None of the trades really dazzle me in retrospect and with all deference to the 312 fans, I am not a fan of the design. I would rather have another gen Rolex as far as in house movements go in that pricerange. (might buy the new sub or upgrade my TT blue sub to the ceramic smurf)

The 087 came the closest to making me do the deal but they seem to be a dime a dozen on Risti so should I get the bug I think I can find a good deal on one

And the Gen 240 and 297 I own are really the only two automatics that I truely love. Especially with the genuine newstyle Ti bracelet I ordered for the 240 which should be here next week
