nick1972 Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Hello Guys, I hope you can help me. I bought a Rolex 702 crown and it wil not fit my 702(I have several 702 tubes) tube. The weird thing is, it's a triplock crown and it fits a 700 tube? Did Rolex made a triplock crown for the Twinlock tubes?
ubiquitous Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 I don't believe this '702' crown is really genuine. Compare it to your other 702 and 703; look at the coronet and the underside of the crown splines. It doesn't look right to me (your other 702 and 703 are correct).
nick1972 Posted September 27, 2010 Author Report Posted September 27, 2010 That's not so good news, I paid 60 euro for it. Mailed the seller for an explanation. Thanks Ubi.
ubiquitous Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 On the underside of the crown... These details really stand out to me: And of course, the coronet on the top of the crown. That and the Triplock dots on a crown that only fits a Twinlock tube...
freddy333 Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 I agree with Ubi - the '702' on the right is an aftermarket (fake) part.
nick1972 Posted September 27, 2010 Author Report Posted September 27, 2010 Thanks guys, Didn't know a replica 702 crown and tube excisted. Here is another picture from the crown and tube it came with. It looks like a 702 tube but the barrel is a bit shorter.
ubiquitous Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Look at the shape of the coronet... Definitely no where near as crisp or defined as the gen...
highoeyazmuhudee Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 who knew! i just bought a 702 crown from a reputable seller, gotta check it now
ubiquitous Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 the real mc coy? For a 702, yes
