Panerai - Solution For Stripped Lug Threads

Recommended Posts

When I saw this posted on the Paneristi site it made me think that if you had a standard 24mm springbar and a Panerai screw, that it might be possible to cut the slot end off the screw, drill the inside of it and fit it over the tip of the springbar. You would need to use only the end and leave enough room for compression.

Alternatively, the end of a springbar could be built up using solder, which could be shaped and slotted to look like a slotted screw end. Don't forget most people need only one of these so it might be worth the effort.

Thanks, I've been looking for that exact thing.

That is an interesting place, seems to have Davidsen's parts but at a higher price. Those spring bars are nice, but too much. 45 (usd)? for one set?

Great idea. Wonder how many sellers there are of the 47mm spring bars...bet those are hard to find.

I fill the hole with a structural epoxy, and sometimes it can form some new threads...but in any case, it will hold the bars in place, that is unless your replacing the strap all the time.
