TK471 Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 I may be a tease without pics, but I'm just too excited about this one not to post. The watch: PAM 88. The parts: Gen dial, hands, case back, crown, crystal, and date wheel. Polished Snembo crownguard. The mods: All performed by the master in Canada. 1. watch completely disassembled; 2. crystal seat machined to lower crystal to correct height; 3. new correct tube fabricated; 4. new correct size o'rings installed; 5. CG lever tightened; 6. DW mod; 7. new silver steel cap cannon fabricated and installed; 8. too small o'ring on caseback - replaced with correct size The location? In the US, which is all I can tell from the shipping info so far. I pledge to post pictures ASAP, I'm sure it will be quite soon. To say that I'm excited about this one is an understatement. I've been at this game for a long time now, and the 88 has always been a bit of a grail for me. I can't explain it -- I've had a lot rarer pieces, gen pieces, and lot rarer parts, but this watch has always just sung to me (I'm sure you all understand). So, five years in -- I have my 88! It's been a while since Zig and I have worked together, and I'm so happy to have reconnected, and that this watch is the piece that's done it. You can see how much work he has put in, work that NO ONE else would attempt or care to do. Zig if you see this, thank you, truly, for all you do.

TK471 Posted December 28, 2010 Author Report Posted December 28, 2010 Congrats. Can't wait to see pics. And congrats on the "reconnection". And thank you for all of your kind words through the years. I'm still bummed I missed out on that NYC GTG. Man, that's been a long time ago.
Watchmeister Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 And thank you for all of your kind words through the years. I'm still bummed I missed out on that NYC GTG. Man, that's been a long time ago. We will work on another one for next year. I just have to guilt a certain "someone" into going.
pabler Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 Five years waiting? That is a whole life, mate! Hope you post the pics Very soon!
TK471 Posted December 30, 2010 Author Report Posted December 30, 2010 Stuck in customs ALL WEEK! I wish there was something I could do to move that process along. Until then... more waiting.
btocamelo Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 dude.....if you saved $1000 every year for 5 years....you would have $5000 and probably pick up a nicely used GEN 88....
TK471 Posted December 30, 2010 Author Report Posted December 30, 2010 Well, in that time I've had about 4 different gen pieces, many reps and other things, so it's not like I've been pining idly. This is just a project that I've thought about for a long time. Finally made a move on it this summer when I sold my gen 111.
dluddy Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Look forward to seeing the Pics .... and you at the next NYC GTG
TK471 Posted December 30, 2010 Author Report Posted December 30, 2010 Look forward to seeing the Pics .... and you at the next NYC GTG No doubt! The wife and daughter were just in NYC for a pre-Christmas weekend, and they had a blast. I promised my wife she and I would head up to the city this summer sometime. I'm sure we can find a date that works for everyone....
Watchmeister Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 I will start working on "the man" over New Years. Actually I may have to drag in his better half to get this one done.
fishgodeep Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 Sounds great - always love to see a Zigged up franken !! Congratulations
TK471 Posted December 31, 2010 Author Report Posted December 31, 2010 This one has officially been stuck in customs longer than any other watch I've ever ordered. It's torture! Is there anything I can do?
borz Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 This one has officially been stuck in customs longer than any other watch I've ever ordered. It's torture! Is there anything I can do? You can hire a good hitman to whack the customs guy who's probably wearing your awesome watch as we speak
