rychastings
Try the glashutte Senator models Also take a look at some of the simpler JLC reps. Edited February 2, 2011 by rychastings
ubiquitous
I've not had many formal style dress watches, but of the few that I have owned, this one was my favorite... The functional tourbillon made it worth the price alone...

Flippster
How about the IWC F.A. Jones?
Jkay
Here is another vote for the GH Senator Sixties rep .. at barely over 100 USD, it is one of the best reps for the money available. See also, the Franck Muller replicas .. at under 100 USD they are also very eye-catching. For mid-priced replicas certainly look at the Vacheron Constantin Overseas. mbjoer
Stowa and Nomos are very classic designs. Stowa seems to have taken a lot of clues from IWC, of which there are a number of reps. So I would start there. But a quite a few others could be considered. Some examples: Vacheron Partimony: Rolex DateJust: Patek Fantasy Chrono: Ulysse Nardin: Let us know what you decide on!! sdfsd
2 questions 1. the reps that use asian 21J with the rotor removed- probably a bad idea? 2. watches with the asian 6497 movement, any that are 42mm or less in diameter? thanks
Jkay
Asian 21j is a catch-all term for a mystery bag of movements. Don't assume that something called A21j was at one point an automatic movement which now has it's rotor clipped off. You are probably assuming that the Miyota clone 21k and 28k automatic movements are the only things called "asia 21j", but these are only the 2 most popular and reliable of the asian made clones/unique asian creations. If the watch you are looking at really has a Miyota clone A21j in it with a removed rotor then YES run away, since the keyless design of that movement family causes breakage if you sneeze on it. Hand winding that movement on a daily basis is madness unless you can repair your own keyless every week or so.
