Guest rolex1 Posted March 11, 2011 Report Share Posted March 11, 2011 So I have a genuine 16233 case, 36mm Mens Datejust in 18k/ss. I also have a White Roman dial for it...only thing I am missing is the movement. Since the movement is $1,000 for a crummy one with worn out plating and what not I want to 'make' a Rolex. What movement should I use? I'd like this to be relatively low tech as I'm not knowledgeable with lathes and what not...can't make a ring to hold the movement myself. Ideally I'd like to find a movement that is a clean swap for the watch. If not...is there someone who can make the movement ring? Maybe even a good thing to produce in bulk, must be a good market for them! So to sum this up...In a 16233 case with genuine dial, what should I use for a movement that will: Fit easily...without much modification Use Genuine hands....ideally, but that may be a stretch Be under $200....an eta would be super! I'm tempted to do this for a 69173, it's my sister's watch and she is a bit rough on it....already went through one balance assembly! What would work on that one? Thanks! I have 2 6605 cases and I realize the chances of finding a movement are non existent....It's a shame because one is RG/SS and the other is SS and both are in great shape. Thanks....a wonderful forum!
