gtsuper99 Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 So I've been browsing the forum for quite a bit now. I realized that everyone takes pictures of their Sub/GMT/DD/DJ etc at an angle. My question is, how does a Gen cyclops even look like? I have purchased a GMT II from josh about 5 months ago, and loving every tick of that watch. However, I have a couple of questions about the crystal. *because that's the first thing I noticed and it bothers me* How does a gen one look? Is the mag correct? Is the size of the cyclops too big? etc. Can someone post me a picture of their gen GMT face on? Also, would a gen crystal fit the GMT I have right now? Because I had a 21J GMT prior and the crystal was NOT EVEN CLOSE to the replacement crystal I ordered prior. Can someone give me an advice? Thanks,
freddy333 Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 If you do not have access to a Rolex AD, I would recommend searching google images, TZ or VRF, where a search for Rolex cyclops would return a deluge of gen images. I have a gen xtal on my CHS, but due to the variability of rep watches, there is no guarantee that what fit my case would fit yours or anyone else's.
gtsuper99 Posted May 5, 2011 Author Report Posted May 5, 2011 should i take out my xtal first then compare? thanks for the advise btw
sneed12 Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 Why buy trouble? Most rep crystals nowadays are quite good, in terms of size, date mag, and placement. The GMT IIc has the AR under the cyclops, which the reps lack, and that's the biggest tell IMO.
kbh Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 Does it really matter. I've got several gen DJ's and several that have had the crystal replaced with aftermarket crystals and they are either the same or extremely close, I've never noticed the difference.
