marinamm20
have you all seen Davidsen's newest version of the 5218-201a my jaw hitted the table when i saw it - what a beauty did some search on it, and found this link - it almost looks spot on...that looks like a NEED TO HAVE watch... good work davidsen - like the dial alot http://officinepanerai.blogspot.com/2006/0...-logo-5218.html imagine buying this 1994 for 1500€ - selling at 15000€ in 2005 - what an investment Edited October 13, 2006 by marinamm20

chris5264
I also have the older version, but I'm very tempted to see if I can just buy the new dial and replace it.
mr1973
You guys really like the new dial? Hmmm... don´t know. IMHO the numbers are way to fat. The first generation dial numbers were a bit better (again, in my humble opinion). Gen dial: And a great resource over there: 201a BIG PICS Edited October 13, 2006 by mr1973
chris5264
I think getting the texture of the gen dial exact will be very difficult. It has depth like a sandwich dial, but almost like the lum was carved out after it was applied. Seems like it would be very difficult to get right. These dials were engraved, not a sandwich, and the lume was applied in the floor and the sides of the engraved channel.

Finepics
Thanks Mate, but I´m around for a loooong time ;-) over at trc (even the header graphics are made by me ;-)) and the ole rwg. Just noticed that and the av looked familiar!! I will let you all into a small secret - there is a remote possibilty that a correct CG for these might - I say might - be being worked on at some point in the near future. Not promising anything yet but let's keep our fingers crossed!!
