Don't pay for waterproofing, good chance nothing extra will be done. The rule of thumb is to just get the watch in your hands, any value-added services you need should be done on your end. The only way to tell if a watch is ready for a swim is to take it to a watch smith and have them test it.

olivax - its very possible you were lucky - and I dont mean lucky you got a waterproof one. I mean you might have a waterproof one, but more likely that you were lucky no water got in!

the only way to know is to pay your local guy to test it - its not that dear to do
