Limestone
Hi! My daily beater is dead. The movement will wind but it´s not accurate and date wont change at midnight. Is it worth replacing the movement? I think it´s a Asia 21j (4813) , but I´m not sure. Can I source that movement for a reasonable amount of money, or will it take another "better" movement? // Henrik
FxrAndy
The best movement that you can swap that with is the miyota 8215 but it will be slow beat. The 4813 is getting hard to get last time I ordered them from cousins I got a slow beat movement that was thinner than the 2813. If you have hands that will fit an eta you could put an eta 28xx in there
Limestone
Only have the rep hands that the POrikaa comes with.. but I´m sure interested in changing to a better movement as I use this watch alot.
FxrAndy
if it is a porica then it will be a slow beat movement in there any way, i have a spare movement here for it that i gort from cousinsUK
Limestone
I can see that cousins have a DG4813 in stock, so that would do? Also the miyota 8215 is in stock, but they don´t specify the beat
FxrAndy
both will be slow beat movements, even we all think that the 4813 is a high beat you will not get one from cousins, have a read here before you buy from cousins
andreww
I never had a problem getting high beat 4813s quite cheaply. The problem is that they are all the low pinion variety and most, if not all our reps require the high pinion.

Jkay
Keep in mind that when the Chinese cloned the Miyota movements to make the DG series, they improved them .. so a Miyota replacement for a DG will not hack. If you dont mind that, then go for it.

andreww
who do you order from Andrew? http://somalcanada.com/ They have lots of asian movements including A7750s. Good pricing as well.
andreww
Wouldn't he simply take the high CP from the broken movement? I suppose if he had the skill to do it himself he could. I know my watchsmith is hesitant to work on a $15 movement.

Well that´s the thing.. is it worth working on a cheap movement. I just use my Porikaa as a "roughscuff" watch. So I might go with a low beat in the end. Limestone
Update: found another tread about this problem. Member Lazoon had the same problem as I do. I found out that the date will turn at midnight, but not manually... The DG2813M 21j Asian movement from Cousins comes with a white datewheel which has chamfered teeth on the inside diameter. The 21j in the POrikka has a black datewheel & straight cut teeth on the inside diameter. If you fit the black datewheel inside the DG2813M 21j Asian movement from Cousins, the date wheel does not rotate at midnight. Not sure if the DW overlay can be switched from POrikaas movement to a DG2813 from cousins.. //H
