how to remove chrono pushers from Daytona or Tudor Monte Carlo

to remove the pushers from the Tudor Monte Carlo 7032 (or Daytona)

do i use a screwdriver and undo it from the inside?

I need to shape the inside end of the pusher so it has better contact with the movement.

I've seen two different types. One has a plunger end that is threaded into the pusher cap like a screw; the plunger head has a slot for a screw driver.

The other that I've seen is held in place with a small circlip; the circlip needs to be pushed out of a small channel on the plunger and then the assembly will pull out the top.

Both are accessed from inside the case, and should be fairly easy to identify once the movement is uncased.

And if you are wondering about removing the entire pusher then some are pressed/glued into the case and others are threaded...

Yes pusher tubes (the part that the pusher cap/plunger passes through) are affixed via the methods jmb described. If they are threaded into the case body, you may need a specific tool to remove them.

i should be ok leaving them where they are.

the ends on the inside look as they have a flat head screwdriver shape.

and thats the part i need to shape a bit better. so should be reasonably simple.

Just be sure to note the order of assembly.

You'll likely have:

1) plunger/base

2) pusher cap (i.e. the button that you press to engage the stopwatch)

3) screw down collar

4) tension spring

5) gaskets (rubber and metal)

id hope to leave all that in there and only remove the plunger.

i want to shave down one side of the end slightly as it just catches

on the edge of the movement when trying to engage the chrono function.

its either that or shave the movement which I wont be trying.

Well, when you remove the plunger, the cap/collar, spring, and gaskets will all come out. The only thing that is going to stay fixed to the case are the tubes, as those are either threaded or pressed in (if this is a DW case, which I suspect, those tubes will be threaded in).

im a little annoyed at having to line this up with the movement.

I haven't heard of anyone else with this problem
