lhooq Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 I prefer the cleaner dial of the 7031/2, but you can see why Tudor reverted to the older V23 movement on the 7159. Just beautiful!
ubiquitous Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 Super clean 7159! I agree, LHOOQ; the 234 in the 71X9 is by far the best movement Tudor used in these older chronographs...
krpster Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 That is a very nice piece, excellent condition. Agree with the comments on the dial. A little too busy for my. Gorgeous none the less.
mrboombasteke Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 Pardon my ignorance, but why's the 234 movement that much better than the 773X?
ubiquitous Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 The Valjoux 234 is derived from the Valjoux 23 and Valjoux 72
lhooq Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 The Valjoux 234 is derived from the Valjoux 23 and Valjoux 72 Q.E.D. The 7734 was designed with an eye toward efficiency--faster assembly, lower costs. Visually, it's a mess of plainly-finished, angular plates and bridges, plus a handful of exposed springs that look like untwisted paper clips. As for the V234, well... All the world loves a column wheel.
