AsiadeCuba
i have another dilemna with my gen PO. i have an opportunity to trade it for explorer II U series. He is asking me to add $550. No box or papers. Here are the down falls. It has a scratch on the crystal. He said it's really faint. I can see it clearly on one of the pics below. Especially on the first photo. The pics looks light they are gen and he has good references on WUS. Here is my rolex collection. A wm9 submariner lv, gen gmt iic, and a rep gmt iic with superlume and ar'ed cyclops. So now if i get the explorer ii, would it be redundant? The other good part is that he had a $400 dollar services back in March 2011. What do you guys think? good deal or not? kbh
I think it would be a deal. Mostly because I like that particular Rolex and much prefer Rolex to Omega. Just my opinion which is only worth 2 cents or a grain of salt. I would think the Rollie would hold value better than the Omega.
By-Tor
Yes. Go for it, if you like the white Explorer II. I'm a Omega fan but Rolex is Rolex. And white ExpII is a great classic. It's a very small watch though (compared to PO). Wears much smaller than Sub and GMT, which are only 1mm larger (due to bigger bezel). PS: That's the tritium dial older version. They're a few hundred bucks cheaper preowned than the superlume versions. Wouldn't bother me though.
AsiadeCuba
thanks for the response bytor and kbh. i just wonder how much a crystal would be. i was wondering if i should counter with 300 dollars to him instead of 550. is the submariner crystal the same as the explorer crystal? By-Tor
It's a steel Rolex... a tool watch. If the crystal scratch is just a small one, who really cares?
indyberetta
Good deal for you...do the deal!
AsiadeCuba
yeah you're right by-tor. I do plan to use it as a beater along with my wm9 sub lv. so i guess i should be able to live with it.
giobo
Awesome deal !!! Wear it well !!!
modelizer
I'd go for it! Also like kbh says, the Rollie will most probably hold it's value better over time..
Omega
I would also go for it! The PO prices are falling and falling. The expoII is not anymore in production (I mean the size), so it will hold the price, even rise in future. That's a Rolex my friend... superlative
Rolex or Omega. Do you even have to ask?
