mikellem Posted December 24, 2011 Report Posted December 24, 2011 Can you open the back and do you have any silica gel packets? If so.. put in a baggie the watch and silica gel packets. Also is you get the back off, use a hair dryer on very low heat and how air.. OR do you have a watch guy that will look at it today? Good Luck. MM
Bryce86 Posted December 24, 2011 Author Report Posted December 24, 2011 Thank you. Unfortunately I dont have the correct tools, can it be done with any other tools? I have a reasonable selection.
mikellem Posted December 24, 2011 Report Posted December 24, 2011 Since the watch is new, I would not take the risk of scratching the watch...Put the watch in silica gel if you have any. Otherwise I would not touch it if the watch is brand new. If you scratch it up, the watch dealer will not exchange it. they will send it in for repair, if new. demand a new watch even if they have to order one! MM
Bryce86 Posted December 24, 2011 Author Report Posted December 24, 2011 but its replica? I didn't think they were waterproof?
Jkay Posted December 24, 2011 Report Posted December 24, 2011 A replica can be waterproof. All it takes is a good design and good QC. Do you have dry white rice? if you cant get silica gel paks then you can always use a sealed container with dry uncooked rice to suck out the water from the watch. 1
mikellem Posted December 24, 2011 Report Posted December 24, 2011 Good one Jkay... actually forgot about the rice~ You are smarter than me anyway.. Cheers, MM
asf Posted December 24, 2011 Report Posted December 24, 2011 but its replica? I didn't think they were waterproof? Do what they guys here are saying to do. My rep AP Diver under water
Bryce86 Posted December 25, 2011 Author Report Posted December 25, 2011 Thanks for the advice lads. So should my pam have handled a splash in the shower?
TeeJay Posted December 25, 2011 Report Posted December 25, 2011 I've had maybe 2-3 watches out of at least two dozen which I wasn't able to get wet, but other than that, my watches have all been dunkable, stand up to showering, bathing and swimming without issue I know other folks haven't always had the same luck as me with water-resistance, and this really is one of those YMMV subjects, but for the most part, I think it is a reasonable (and fairly safe) expectation for a watch which is historically a diver's watch, to be water-resistant out of the box

I'll have to remember it.
Jkay Posted December 25, 2011 Report Posted December 25, 2011 Thanks for the advice lads. So should my pam have handled a splash in the shower? The real problem is the lack of quality control at the watch factory. Your watch might be designed to be waterproof but if the assembler forgets to put in your rubber gaskets ... oops! There is no inspector to find this fault. Modern high quality replicas with screw-down (or lever sealed like PAM) crowns can be made waterproof. Its just a matter of proper gaskets. They normally have these in place but there is no guarantee.
Bryce86 Posted December 26, 2011 Author Report Posted December 26, 2011 Took the case back off, gentle heat with hair dryer at distance and then sealed bag for a few hours with silica gel. Now bone try and running sweet - thank you all! How could I find out if the gasket is in there?
FxrAndy Posted December 26, 2011 Report Posted December 26, 2011 You should see the gasket/oring on the case back or the case when you opened it
Bryce86 Posted December 26, 2011 Author Report Posted December 26, 2011 There was an O ring on the case back, but how about the crown/stem?
FxrAndy Posted December 26, 2011 Report Posted December 26, 2011 you would have to remove the crown, another regular souce or leaks is the crystal, and crystal gasket, i have had watches with non round crastals in the past that would not be water restistant no matter what, other s with crushed and deformed crystals gaskets
