coolchu001 Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 they do fit, check my post I have a picture with the gen insert is hard to get it in but it does fit, perfectly I can confirm this. followed your instructions and it fits perfectly:
omgiv Posted February 17, 2012 Author Report Posted February 17, 2012 I also just pushed a little harder and got the genuine insert to fit. I just wasn't pushing hard enough. Thanks for the tip!
oberblender Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 That's normal! Gen inserts (at least with the watches from the last 10 years) have to be pressed in quite hard in gen rolex watches, too.
ArkoN Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 just a noob question, what are the visible flaws on this watch with the gen insert?
giobo Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 Maybe the SEL gap, which is the best at the moment..Maybe the bezel teeth... The others need a loupe...lol
jmb Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 I've casually followed some of the "SEL Fit Anxiety" lately and wondered why folks didn't build up a SEL "edge" with silver-solder and file to a perfect fit? These are reps after all and I'm sure that tolerances like these are likely deliberate so as to make assembly easier. I've also hypothesized that the plastic "spacer" between the crystal and retention ring on PT Subs was also either deliberate to allow for gross variations in tolerances or to allow out of spec crystals to be used.
