Barn find Hamilton stamped USN. Comments?

That's a beauty! If it were me I'd get her serviced and throw it on a nice strap and wear it! The ole' "canteen cap crown" The best way to water proof the leaky crown back in the day.

With the case back and anti-magnetic cover removed its easy to see that the balance moves freely and the power from the crown is transferred to the winding gears but no power is stored in the spring. So probably a broken main spring.

When I get home I'll research the history of this piece. It's a mystery to me at the moment.

Ok so a little digging reveals that this is an original US Navy watch, ca WWII, issued by the Bureau of Ships (BUSHIPS) to underwater demolition team operators (frogmen)
