fxcooker
My 1997 model year datejust stopped working yesterday and I took it to my local watch repair guy (not authorized rolex repair/dealer) and he said it needs cleaned. I've never had it serviced and I bought it used and i doubt its ever been cleaned. So anyways, I left it with him to get cleaned, but now I'm thinking I may want him to replace the crystal because it has some nicks that annoy me. So I call him back and ask him about replacing the crystal and he says he cant get parts but says he'll replace it for free with the cleaning if i can find the part. I see there are replacements on eBay for like $20 - $30 but I wonder if I will notice a difference in the quality from the original. Does anyone have any experience with generic replacement crystals? I can't seem to find genuine ones for sale anywhere... http://www.ebay.com/...=item25661886b1 http://www.ebay.com/...=item4600ec41c0 Edited March 27, 2012 by fxcooker
alligoat
Jandkwatches is ok, I'd stay away from whokesaleoutlet. You could also try Clark's- http://www.ebay.com/itm/Clark-Sapphire-crystal-Rolex-25-295-C-295C-/230764347794?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35baa08192 Edited March 27, 2012 by alligoat
freddy333
If you are neurotic (like me), only the gen xtal will do. If you are patient & willing to pay up to $200, you should be able to locate 1 on ebay or some of the gen sale forums. But if time/cost is an issue, go with Clarks.
