APguy1
Two days ago i dropped my watch on a hard floor !!!! it has a tiny scratch and pimple on the polished sides but thats not what this is about, what it's about is when i dropped it a then panicked and checked the winding, hands and date and all that was fine so i set it the the computers accurate clock and i left it alone. The next day i checked it against the computers time and it was -2 secs !!!! before the watch was + 5 mins a day because i think it was magnetised but now i have a genuine watches accuracy ! hee guys if you read this dont decide to drop your watches on the floor it might not turn out very well ! sneed12
If dropping helped, it wasn't magnetized. More likely, part of the hairspring had gotten tangled/stuck, and the sharp impact unscrambled it.

kbh
Actually, sharp whacks on a hard surface with also demagnetize things. Google it. I happened to be looking for a way to demagnetize a screwdriver and that's what it said to do. Fortunately I found a better way with a soldering gun that actually worked great. Gotta love Google. sneed12
Actually, sharp whacks on a hard surface with also demagnetize things. Google it. That's true, but the stuff that gets magnetized in a watch movement is unlikely to get demagnetized by dropping an entire watch on a hard surface. I'm a physicist, I don't need to google it
