MapsMoney Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 hey guys, I got a Pam 005 Noob from Mary, perfect piece.. awesome.. Out of no where when I wound it up one morning, it just didn't work anymore.. No ticking, nothing.. just doesnt move. it's all the way wound up also I tried palm slapping over and over, still nothing Should I sell it as is or try and get someone to fix it ? It's useless now!
Jkay Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 How long have you owned it? You have two choices ... have it serviced in the US at a trusted watch technician or send it back to China to be fixed there for free, plus postage. Keep in mind that mechanical watches need to be serviced every 3 to 5 years anyway, so it's something which we come to expect.
MapsMoney Posted May 11, 2012 Author Report Posted May 11, 2012 I got it around january, but its been broken since february :\
Jkay Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 I can not speak for him of course but I bet The Katt could fix you up, no problem. Inexpensive, fast, and friendly ... shoot a mail to GKLONER at GMAIL dot COM detailing your troubles.
Jkay Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 Sure. He is a watch repair technician in Minnesota. No 7750/7753 work. A21j, ETA, Clone, etc, etc, are all good.
Vinguru Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 I had a same problem some time ago. A screw broke and blocked the movement. Had it fixed by a local watchmaker for just 15 euro's.
Ephry73 Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 Open the case back and see if the two movement holder screws are intact. Sometimes these brake off and jam inside. Easy fix for any watchmaker. Good luck. E

MapsMoney Posted May 14, 2012 Author Report Posted May 14, 2012 More trouble then it's worth! it's most likely something small like that.. ready to just sell it for $200, it's in perfect condition only worn once......
Ephry73 Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 Perfect condition, you mean almost perfect? Just giving you shet man. It should be ok for you open the back and at least assess what the issue could be.
MapsMoney Posted May 14, 2012 Author Report Posted May 14, 2012 everything besides this small issue is perfect, cosmetically is' great... i'm just not a steady hand, suck at opening these, and just would rather give it to someone who would enjoy it more...
dow Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 This pam watch use an asian clone of a classic workhorse, the 6497. These are a fairly simple model and friendly to assemble and service. I concider the good asian clones, made by Seagull, properly oiled almost/just as good as the swiss. Though some of the asian clones are of a lower grade, more prone to be trouble. Sometimes it's simple fix, a screw that has loosened similar, sometimes they assemble these movements very bad. And never oil. Sometimes the lower grades have more difficult problems, construction flaws. I don't know what's is being used in your 005, here is your alternatives: 1. Get someone to service your movement, risk is though you have a lower grade asian. These can be no trouble, but they can also be problematic, 2. ... So safest bet is to get a new seagull sg-36, fi from Helenarou, and ask someone to oil and install it for you and you are good to go for a long time. 005 has closed caseback, no worries to use a nonengraved movement.
MapsMoney Posted May 16, 2012 Author Report Posted May 16, 2012 im hoping it has the movement as advertised by mary but now it's doing me no good, if anyone wants it let me know
dow Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 If you need help, shoot me a PM. Though I'm in Europe...
Scipio Posted September 9, 2012 Report Posted September 9, 2012 crap I just bought myself a PAM005 N Noob Best Edition with Asian 6497 from puretime... How do I know that I have that movement and that it works properly? This is my first rep and I already feel sacked reading this post. Any idea if those rep PAM005's are waterproof? Can you swim with it? (no diving)
Justasgood Posted September 10, 2012 Report Posted September 10, 2012 Send it to me and i will fix it.
