Tudor/Rolex Plexi Question

So over the last week, I have acquired 2 Gen. Rolex 25-144 plexi crystals for my 79090. The original crystal (from '94) had a very slight bevel along the edge. The first one I acquired - from a Rolex Plastic Baggy, matched the original crystal. Today, I got another one from my Watchmaker, who ordered it from the RSC in Dallas (came in a plastic clamshell box), and it's got a much larger edge. I like the bigger edge better (newer crystal). Any ideas on why Rolex has two different Versions?

Original and Older Replacement:

(The beveled edge begins right at the top of the bezel insert)

Not sure about plexis for Tudor Subs but....

For Rolex 1680 Subs, there are 2 distinctive plexis.

The newer replacements are the ones with the bevels at the edges.

The older harder to find, known as "Tall Hats" are the ones without the bevels.

Personally, I prefer Tall Hats on subs ~
