Mbw Crystal Gasket/seal

Hi

This is my first post.

I want to change the crystal on my MBW 1680 most of the threads I’ve searched and read show that there is a groove for a gasket below the crystal but no gasket.

Does anybody know what the Rolex or Cousins part number is for a gasket to fit the slot?

@SB,

the other day, i read a post where another forum member used the gasket from the back of the case for the crystal gasket because it fit perfectly. But when they tried ordering fom OF or Cousins, the new part didn't fit the caseback. i can't find the thread that was in but if you have a old sub laying around, you might want to canabalize the gasket to use on the crystal of your 1680.

I have talked to Cousins and they have told me the 29-325-10 gasket fits the case back, so I have ordered some and will report back.

Cousins had a number of goes at finding the part number so I am not too confident the will fit.

I think it may have been a post of mine that mentioned using a case back gasket.

That ring does not actually seal the crystal, it creates a rubber seal under the crystal retaining ring (no doubt intended to help seal the crystal). MBWs don't come with that o-ring anymore (if they ever did) but I found that an extra case back o-ring I had fit perfectly.

The seal itself is interesting.

The watch case as a sort of ring that sticks up with a very small lip on it. The crystal pushes down on this ring such that the little lip sort of digs into the inside of the plastic crystal. Then the crystal retaining ring pushes down over the crystal TIGHTLY thereby forcing that little lip into the plastic crystal even tighter.

It's a pretty good system even without the o-ring that goes under the retaining ring.
