whiteshields1830 Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 Anyone paid via western union transfer to a TD before? Is it safe? Heard horror stories in regards to paying for things via western union and has always been a no no for me, especially for underground things like this.
watchman12345 Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 Just used it today. The main disadvantage is that you have no option to file a dispute like you do in Paypal, but you should never open a PP dispute with TDs anyway so I'd imagine it's perfectly fine. A lot of the dealers here are around quite a while and are are trustworthy as you can get in this business.
Legend Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 western union benefits the seller in terms of "money in the hands" efficiency and having no tie-ons to aftersales disputes. Generally, buyers can ask for more discount when paying via western union. So, don't forget to ask for a better price if you adopt this payment method!
browngo1 Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 Tried to use WU once and was treated like something they'd stood in, so I didn't bother and vowed I wouldn't use them again.
rek001 Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 Used WU a number of times, no problem, just makes you realize how much money these reps cost when you lay down 15 or 20 $20 bills on the counter.
Stimpythecat Posted August 22, 2012 Report Posted August 22, 2012 Used them once. Make sure the WU clerk enters the sellers name and address exactly correctly, or the dealer won 't be able to collect the money. Can be tricky with spelling unfamiliar Chinese words.
