dieselpower Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 Am looking for the most highly recommended 5513 rep insert to go in a new MBW 5513 which is going to replicate an early 1970's 5513. I have an old MBW insert which I had to glue in place (used plumbers jointing compound LS-X, very successful) but want to play around with different bleachings/pearl combinations so the question is simple, who supplies the best aftermarket early 1970's 5513 insert? Is there one that is head over heels the winner or is the jury still out?
Ephry73 Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 I have a Clark's with decent pearl that snaps in the gen bezel or gen like bezels. Bleaches out nicely too
dieselpower Posted September 1, 2012 Author Report Posted September 1, 2012 Cheers Ephry73. Email me about the other matter? Sent you PM. Will check out Clark's.
freddy333 Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 Click me (yes, this fits an MBW or any other case that accepts gen bezel parts) & replace the pearl with an Ofrei illumines dot. There are many threads discussing/reviewing these that you can search out for additional details.
dieselpower Posted September 2, 2012 Author Report Posted September 2, 2012 @ freddy333, thanks for that but they're out of stock of those bezel inserts and they have no idea when they will be getting new stock. I can't believe that nobody makes a decent fat font insert - there's a killing to be made in that surely?
woof* Posted September 2, 2012 Report Posted September 2, 2012 Go gen As long as you don't buy a fat font, you can get a nos service insert for 150$
Watchmeister Posted September 2, 2012 Report Posted September 2, 2012 Go gen As long as you don't buy a fat font, you can get a nos service insert for 150$ +1
freddy333 Posted September 2, 2012 Report Posted September 2, 2012 Go gen As long as you don't buy a fat font, you can get a nos service insert for 150$ Ditto (though that is likely to begin a downward spiral that can only end financial ruin - & your MBW transformed into a gen).
dieselpower Posted September 2, 2012 Author Report Posted September 2, 2012 Ditto (though that is likely to begin a downward spiral that can only end financial ruin - & your MBW transformed into a gen). I know. That is my greatest fear. Isn't this forum called the "Replica" Watch Group. Lets not loose sight of our origins chaps, as I have said before it's easy to spend a load of cash and make a franken. That's not what we're supposed to be about. Remember?
freddy333 Posted September 2, 2012 Report Posted September 2, 2012 Point taken. But the only aftermarket insert I have come across that is in the same league as a gen is the PMWF. If that 1 is unavailable, I think your only choice is to wait or go gen.

If I could find a reasonable fat font gen I'd be all over it, but that's not going to happen so, for the time being? I'll wait.
