I have no modding experience but I love the solution, using the laws of physics to your own advantage. Super stuff. In theory, you could use a 32mm 12 point socket. Put some electrical tape or plastic wrap on it to prevent marring and hand press it. (I do this with a 36mm socket on Submariners crystal retaining rings.)
