Donerix 2.0
I have always liked Nato straps - on others, because they never really looked good on my wrist. Especially the uneven distribution of material, the clasp sitting too high on the outside of the wrist and the bulky back-loop of the tail made all of the natos, zulus, 3 and 5 rings get no wrist time worth mentioning. So I finally decided to try to find a solution and after many attempts I came up with this first prototype. It still needs a little tampering - mainly in the area of the loops of the center piece, but I think I might be on to something: It's not clearly visible on these first pics, but the tail has the thickness of a regular strap and the buckle sits on the middle of the bottom of the wrist like a conventional strap. Both side parts, one holding the buckle and the other one being the tail are permanently attached to the double rings of the center piece and pull down on them equally. Your feedback is appreciated !!!
Mike on a bike
Donerix I happen to like NATOs but of the canvas variety, bought one in leather it did not cut it. Now your looks like it surely would , great work you are definitely on to something. If you make some for sale at some point PM me.
Donerix 2.0
I will fine tune this version a little bit to reduce the gap between wrist and strap a bit more and then they should become a regular part of my collection.
BigCrown
Donerix, interesting 5513. Where did you find that dial? Interesting... love it!
blackdice
I love nato's be it leather or canvas. Please let me know how this goes. I totally understand what you mean when you said the buckle always sits outside of the wrist. So from your design, I can open the strap via both ends? Is that right?
