The rehaut is the ring between the dial and the bezel/crystal...

On some watches, it has the tachymetre scale, on some Rolexes, it has ROLEXROLEXROLEX etched on its surface.

rehaut was originally a french term referring to the "highlights" in a painting or in effect the depth in a painting. As far as watches go I think of it as the height from the crystal to the dial. :)

Many thanks. I'm surprised that this is apparently such an important aspect of evaluating replicas since one would have to look very closely to see it.

Actually rehaut which is way off is fairly obvious as it changes the appearance of the dial and hands beneath the crystal never mind the sizing of the date if it an automatic with date and cyclops. :)

rehaut is another thing for us to nitpick about reps :)

war - i am guessing like me, y ou were away from the board for a bit and came back and everyone was screaming about rehaut, took me a while to find the answer too :)

No, I was on the board and kept wondering what everyone was talking about, but I felt embarrassed to ask what apparently would seem to be a stupid question. :) Just today I was looking over some downloads of watch term definitions, and I realized that "rehaut" wasn't among them, so my curiosity overcame my fear and I got up the courage to ask. :whistling:
