thealphabeta
Anyone else experience a noisy rotor on these? Got an IWC XVI today and it has the 2892 movement. I know rotors can be noisy so don't go down that route. However, this one sounds particularly grindy? I've been spoilt with my gen sub. You can't hear a peep from that. I want to take it off to grease the bearings but have no idea how to get it off. I'm used to the screw down rotors.
kbh
Seems to me that you need to take the whole autowind assembly off and get those rotors lose from the inside. It's been a while since I've done one.
thealphabeta
How do you get the rotor off though? There are no screws? Noted re the grease. I had read that the möbius option was a good one. I have some one dip arriving today so hopefully that will help. kbh
As I previously said, you have to take the autowind module off to get to the 3 screw heads.
thealphabeta
And how do you get that off??

Rolexman
Don't expect miracles from one dip. It is just a fast drying cleaner. All other naphtha based fluids would also do just fine IMO. Be careful not to dislocate or loose the balance hack when you remove the auto wind module. Make sure you have proper screw drivers for the rotor screws as they are tiiiiiiiiny! thealphabeta
Ta guys. You must be getting bored of my 'how do I...' At least you're willing to help Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
thealphabeta
Great link, thanks. That makes far more sense. Got some new A*F drivers on the way, so will tackle it then. If they're small enough of course. ETA say 'do not wash' in the guide? Does that include a one dip? I won't put it in the ultrasonic for sure. Rolexman
No. One dip is perfect. It evaporates. Water could stay in cracks and cause rust so never wash. I prefer a tiny amount of D5 on 2~3 ball bearing. A slightly higher viscosity makes it even more smooth than 9010.

thealphabeta
I've bought some 9010/2 and D5 figuring I will use them for most servicing needs. They'll both be adequate for the 6497 movements that I've been working on.
