devilseam
Hi guys, I just picked up one of andrews 1665's. Its brilliant, better than expected. I have got a yuki dial, gen crown/tube and a clarks crystal ready to install. One thing that is a dissapointment is the caseback, very poor engraving thats nowhere near deep enough, I was wondering what my options were? I have seen some of the MBW casebacks that look brilliant, also Yuki has one for $200 that looks much better than mine. Has anyone got any other solutions? Is it possible to have the original caseback better engraved? If so who could do that? Thanks in advance,
freddy333
There are many threads discussing the issues & possible options for 1665 casebacks, but, basically, your options are to either source a gen or try Phong (not perfect, but close). Either way, be prepared for sticker shock.
panerai153
At one time jmb did some case back engraving . Not sure if he is taking in any work now.
Tribal
Try to get a MBW 1665 Caseback and polish the Engravings a lot. You get a nice result.
Valty
The best aftermarket case back is the one from MQ currently. The Phong is good, especially on the artificial aging, but not accurate concerning the engraving. The only problem with MQ case back is it's not cheap. You can find a gen service case back for almost the same price (it's the way I choose) For a budget 1665, a MBW case back would be a good solution See here for Phong and MQ offers : http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/150198-1665-white-caseback/
