scotty Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 Having looked at the release of the new PO ceramics we see a number of to be fixed flaws. Good looking watch (i really like Omega's changes on this model year). The case back has been copied from the blue titanium version and wrongly carried over to the others. States 'liquid metal' when it shouldn't. Easy fix to brush off, but a simple mistake. However I've fixed on the bezel colour. I was in an AD the other week and handled gens - 42mm and 45.5mm. The 42mm Liquid Metal that was released some time ago had a jet black bezel insert. However these PO Ceramics (or simply latest version PO's) have a more grey matte bezel insert. Certainly not jet black and glossy. Maybe I'm wrong and simply colour blind!! But maybe they've repped the liquid metal ceramic bezel and applied to the new case and bracelet PO's? Any other thoughts here?
bamcky2k Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 the colour on the new reps is correct, the bezel colour on the gens when viewed under the shiny lights of an AD's window is indeed a grey colour, but if you look up some gen watch pics on google of the 8500 planet ocean it appears more charcoal/black, especially in naturel light. it pretty common for watches with fancy bezels or dials etc to look different colours under different lighting, ive viewed the gen under naturel daylight and it does appear darker. these new reps definatley dont have the liquid metal gloss black inserts, for a start, just looking at some qc pics and forum pics-the bezel is matte finish like the gen. its a pretty good rep, i may bite the bullet and order, but tbh im not totally won over just yet...
scotty Posted February 12, 2013 Author Report Posted February 12, 2013 Thanx. I think they need to correct the caseback, movement inscription error, and assure no happy feet logo etc first. Waiting to read a review here of first ones to have received theirs to get the full gen.....
DMS Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 Damn...wrong topic...but hey, enjoy. About the bezelf colour; I think the real deal has a bit more matte finish...
indywatchguy Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 DMS the bezel dot is perfectly centered and overall the watch looks great but I can't get pass the FAT Cheerio O in Omega deal breaker for me that's why I went for the 45mm 1
DMS Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 (edited) @Indywatchguy: Piccas, piccas! I'm happy with the QC pictures of mine. The only thing I now realize is that the bezel is probably exactly the same one as of the V5...the silver ring on it is too big compared to the genuine. Edited February 12, 2013 by DMS
browngo1 Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 DMS the bezel dot is perfectly centered and overall the watch looks great but I can't get pass the FAT Cheerio O in Omega deal breaker for me that's why I went for the 45mmjust arrived bout to open it now! Come on Indy, we need pics!!
indywatchguy Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 @DMS that's why I went for the ceramic bezel.
indywatchguy Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 There coming fellas....can't let the wife catch me wit my new watch porn
indywatchguy Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 The AR is not bad but definitely not double sided. The band and clasp feel a little cheap and flimsy not as good as other Omega rep bands I've felt but overall its a solid watch. The lume is good pretty close to superluminova. The dial is crisp with lots of detail. The bezel is smooth not to loose or tight. The date wheel changes smoothly both manually and automatically. Probably NOT a super rep and could have been priced about $50 cheaper. Overall I like this watch not sure if I love it yet. BTW the infamous LM logo everyone hates is actually engraved pretty deep so I don't think it would be a good idea to try and remove it. This baby will get lots of wrist action. Enjoy to the Max Gents! 1
bamcky2k Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 yours appears to have the best AR of any that have been posted so far...very nice!
sgtguk Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 Looks really good indy Thought I'd post a couple pics to show bezel colour.....this is a 42mm You can see the pearl height here Logo clearly here Hope these help
indywatchguy Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 Thanks bam and sarge! I'm very happy with it! And the power reserve on the engine is amazing! Its been running about two days with 75 winds. I think the Swiss eta 2836 might be my favorite movement!
cougar1 Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 Nice pics above indy, you got a nice one. I do think the AR is inner, as you mentioned, but it is very ineffectual, worse for instance than the old gen smp, which had inner AR. Next to 42mm there is a huge difference in transparency, If they correct that, the 45mm will be a cracking rep. Congrats on the watch looks great though.
indywatchguy Posted February 15, 2013 Report Posted February 15, 2013 Thanks cougar I'm luvin it! My biggest complaint tho is the cheap HE valve
