grihander
Hi to everybody I'm from Barcelona and this is my 2nd post here. I've reading and learning a lot about Panerais and now I know more or less what I want looking for my perfect PAM: -I like the look of authentic titanium brushed case (are titanium cases a scratch magnet?) -I like to have a seconds hand @9 -I like sandwich dial instead of sausage -I like it to be superlumed. -I don't know if it's better glass caseback or metal. -I don't know which color of lume/numbers choose, white, beige, light orange, please suggestions. -I like flat glass, not domed -I want 44mm size or less, I have small wrist. -Hands type? Tobacco dial is good looking ? -I don't like manual winding, automatic is a MUST. -I don't like the models with the date or magnifying cyclope -I would want to have Sea Gull ST2530 movement because I've readed that are excellent and good price (they usually are used with PR @5 models) and also has date window ;( Are these complications a problem and should choose another automatic seagull more simple ? -I like PAM036, PAM177, PAM040B for example. Can these models be assembled with automatic movement ? -I can live with a PR reserve indicator if it's the only way to have automatic.... Please suggest me more titanium models that are like 036 or are more how I described my perfect PAM above Thank you for your comments Edited February 20, 2013 by grihander
alt.watch.obsessive
This probably does not meet all your requirements, but check out a PAM 240J from Trusty, Josh, or others.
peterpotamus
so you are looking for a PAM 351 (44mm) or the 392 (42mm) forget the 392, it's steel not titanium Edited February 21, 2013 by peterpotamus
Watchmeister
Yeah, the ones you listed whcih come with manual movements will be very difficult if not impossible to retrofit for automatic unless you go with one of the 2892 based automatics.. grihander
The PAM240J looks so good, titanium and atomatic. Is it possible to mod it changing the dial for a sanwich one ? I also want a dial with no date window, for example the Pam036 dial would fit ? Thanks
Watchmeister
Automatic without a date window does not exist in Panerai world other than the 2 register chronographs (212, etc.). If you want sandwich dial without date I believe you are stuck with a manual wind but someone else can correct me if I am wrong.
w0lf
Not with seconds at 9. You can do center seconds or a base setup. You will need to combine parts from two watches: For a base Ti without center secs: H-F PAM240 Remove the seconds @9 pinion & date change mechanism Jackson Tse MM104 crystal (great clarity sapphire that will fit H-F case and has no cyclops) PAM112 or PAM219 sandwich dial, snip the dial feet & install with dial dots. The bad news is you will still have the date setting crown position, but then again all 2-register chrono reps like 288, 212, 253, 214, 286, 332 have this extra crown position and folks don't seem to mind. For a SS w/ center seconds N-F PAM29 remove GMT & datechange stuff Jackson Tse MM104 crystal PAM112 or PAM219 sandwich dial, snip the dial feet & install with dial dots
