Date or non date ?

I have a number of gen and rep watches on both categories. In my opinion sometimes a non date dial is more appealing. Just a feeling hard to explain.  I wonder what you prefer.

Here's one of my favorites. MBW dated Submariner 1680

The date, especially when amplified with the addition of a cyclops, mars the purity of a Sub dial.

Putting a date feature on tool watches that were designed, primarily, for specific tasks (diving in the case of a Sub & timing races in the case of a Daytona) makes the watch look a bit silly, as if the date was slid in, as an after-thought, sometime after the watch was original designed. On a Datejust or other non-tool watch it looks fine.

Yeah

Yup.

The cyclops really shows off the date and dial textures. And it's a beautiful thing too, especially when it's a a gen brushed silver date wheel with a gen matte dial you are looking at. :)

One reason why I prefer no date reps... Well I guess the major reason is the rarity of having an accurate, aligned DWO.

Currently building a 1680 with a T39 so I don't magnify the tells... Plus I think it's cool.
