devilseam
I have just picked up a nice 5513, the dial lume has been redone by bigdazza and looks great, however the text is a sort of grey colour. The lume is very similar to this pic - How can I get the text to match the lume as it does on this watch? I loathed to change the dial as this one is nice, but I can't live with the greyish text. whoopy12
While you can't completely change the color of the text, you can use an acrylic wash (aka watered-down paint) and create a yellow tint slowly, being careful to let each layer dry. freddy333
A yellow matte varnish spray will yellow the lume (along with the rest of the dial) or a plain (non-yellow) matte varnish will slightly whiten it. Search this forum for 'matte varnish' for pics & additional details.
CptTripps
I did this yesterday with brown shoe-polish and my shoe-brush. The trick is knowing when to stop! I put the brown on, brushed lightly...added a little more....brushed lightly again. It looks almost gilt! The paint on the dial was completely white when I started. Just used regular old Kiwi Brown Paste.
FxrAndy
I stand corrected that is quite effective!, would be difficult to do with non applied markers though
CptTripps
Not if you taped them off.I only pulled mine because I'm spraying them tonight. I'd tried to go puffy, but it was too tall for the hands to clear. This project is a LOT of work, but it's been fun too.
