csstz Posted May 28, 2013 Report Share Posted May 28, 2013 I have a franken noob sub as my 1st rep, and im planning to buy my second one.im thinking of buying a getat homage luminor marina militareand i have no idea on pams and the qualityhere are the picsthe seller noted the watch specs as follows:Asian Seagull Unitas 6497 hand-wound mechanical, 17 jewels, Power reserve 48 hours.Brown Marina Militare sandwich layered dial with VINTAGE SUPERLUME.GOLD HANDS WITH VINTAGE SUPERLUME.SAPPHIRE GLASS3 ATM WRCase: AISI 316L polished steelPre-V bucklebut i dont know if what he said is true.i could get this piece for total 192 usd from my local watch shop here in the philippinesi can easily pick it up at his shop, hence i don't have to pay the shipping cost and wait.is the price justifiable?and also im bothered if i will save the money and buy the pam111 v3are the quality of the two just the same? just without the panerai markings? docthor Posted May 28, 2013 Report Share Posted May 28, 2013 Well...I don't know about the quality of the pam111 v3 but since I owned 8 Getat pam hommages I know a bit about them. The movements are pretty good but the case quality isn't. On three of my 8 the tread for the strap pin was damaged and on 6 (all 6 Luminor cases the other 2 were Radiomir cases) cases the lever action was close to loose. And...I didn't try on mine but I heard from others that the cases aren't waterproof in any way. One isn't even able to wash his hands without probably getting water into the watch... I wouldn't pay 192$ for a Getat hommage anymore...if you can get one for 90-100$ that would be okay I guess. devilseam Posted May 28, 2013 Report Share Posted May 28, 2013 I would go noob 111, having owned a couple of Getats and a 111, the quality of the 111 far exceeds the getat IMO. csstz Posted May 28, 2013 Author Report Share Posted May 28, 2013 (edited) thanks guys that enlightened me well. i thought 'tat's are the same quality as the 111 v3 but without the panerai markings. but it seems that 111 v3 had much in quality, which is what im looking for. I think I got to save more for the 111 v3! but another gem just seemed to arrive. The kw 312-O. which will be the most bang for the buck? will i go for 111 v3 first, as i dont have any pams yet. or go straight for kw 312-O? What do you guys think?
