Possibly the best Hornback for AP ...................

One of the aspects that are sometimes neglected and that insurance change radically the aspect of a clock is its strap. And if it is of exotic skins, as the crocodile, the elegance is guaranteed

This high quality material has a natural structural surface which is accentuated and highlighted through finishing and further refined. The great individuality of this material makes each strap has a personal character, a specific structure, which makes each strap a cherished and coveted watch unique.

Best you can get is OEM.

I would not be entirely sure. The OEM straps are heavily overpriced (as, of course, just about everything from AP B)), and the "Hornback Exclusive" from Jacob seem to be at least similar to the OEM. Plus, you can chose whatever color and stitching you want, which obviously is a plus. :good:

At least I am going to give him a try.

Its not the strap its the stunning fitment on an OEM strap to the lugs that makes the difference! They have a cut out SS or alloy 'Female' sewn into the strap so the leather is unstressed by the pin, I have had to throw two straps away as the leather gave way.

AP is worth every penny. I've ordered custom straps from them in the desired stitching colors. I've had pretty much every aftermarket strap. Most of these folks do not use inserts on the ends and the fitment isn't OEM. You get what you pay for. Even AP bands who makes a very nice hornback cannot touch the quality of OEM.

Best you can get is OEM.

You can say the same about the watches..... but it's sorta price prohibitive for most people..........

at a OEM strap cost of twice the cost of the whole (secs @12) rep watch.....

it's like putting a $2000 platinum band on a $50 cubic zirconia diamond....

I have 3 Gen AP ROO's ...... all have AP bands as spares...... and will be getting some Jacobs .... some Migloiore... and some Orloffs for them as well

Simples....... AP's are amazing..... but they are also a bloody rip off and if you can save a few bucks for something that is virtually  indistinguishable...... hell yes

Do any other strap makers add the metal inserts in their straps. Or, secondly, are the inserts available so that they can be inserted in any makers strap? I could certainly see where not having some type of insert would allow the straps to stretch over the lug screws, and eventually either break or not look very nice. Leather by it's nature will stretch over time, and the stretching will be accelerated by tension on the leather.

I agree, Jacob makes one of the best, if not the best hornback straps outside OEM.

I ordered a few times from him, and have an order pending with him.

Other good strapmakers include Orloff, Donerix, Aaron from Combat straps, and Gunny straps..

I used to order from APBands but find them too expensive for what I consider to be average quality.
