Phong and MBW compatibility?

I have a phong 1665 mid case. Can I use a MBW retaining ring on it or will I run into issues? Phong seems to tell me I need one of his fitted. Is he just trying to make a sale?

My plan is to use the phong mid case, + MBW caseback, + MBW retaining ring.

if phongs case fits a gen tropic then a ring and bezel ring should fit no problem. but it may not work to mix compression rings and bezel rings from different manufacturers

So, are you saying that if I use phong mid case + MBW retaining ring, bezel, etc... It will work?

I'm no modder so I will likely outsource this.

Yes, this should work. The retainer ring only attaches to the crystal. The bezel only attaches to the rataining ring.

As ling a gen crystal fits the middle case you can use the MBW bezel assembly.
