devilseam
I'm almost certain this is good, but can one of the Rolex Guru's confirm that this 1675 insert is authentic
By-Tor
Can't verify it, either... but it looks too good to be fake.
SSTEEL
Looks ok, the 6 has the correct amount of red inside, 60% red 40% blue. The font looks a little thin compared to this gen.. (But the one you posted is a flat 4). Edited June 24, 2013 by SSTEEL
By-Tor
@SSTEEL: Your example is a 16710, not 1675.But there's surprisingly many differences between gen bezel inserts. For example early 16710's came with the Serif bezel insert font. But anything after K-serial has a standard, non-Serif font.
SSTEEL
Aha, I'm still learning about the many variations. Amazing really. Not me learning lol, the amount of different types available.
By-Tor
Most of the older 16710's have the standard font now as well. When they had been taken to to service (past 2002 or so) Rolex replaced the worn inserts with the new ones (with the standard font).PS: Must-read articles for all GMT fans.http://www.doubleredseadweller.com/watch-info/gmt/evolution-of-the-gmt.htmlhttp://www.doubleredseadweller.com/watch-info/gmt/gmt-in-transition.html
docthor
hmmm...that makes me wonder if the insert I just bought 1. is Gen 2. will fit a 1675 it looks like the 16710 example that By-Tor has posted...
By-Tor
@Doc: Yep... that certainly looks like it's for an older (pre 2003) 16710. And that diameter is different. If that's the case then good news is that it's very easy to sell.I don't remember if some 1675 inserts came with the Serif though... make a simple Google image search and see if you can find examples. docthor
...Google can't find 1675 inserts with serif fonts but lot of 16710 inserts... I was so happy that I finally found a nice gen insert for my 1675. Now I have to hope that I can sell it for the price I paid but when you say it's easy to sell that shouldn't be a problem I guess... We'll see in about 6 weeks time...the insert is in only 500km away but the seller is on holiday
By-Tor
You can probably re-sell it quickly... even in this forum unless you paid too much for it.
Seacraft
Doc, there are 1675 inserts with serif, though the amount of serif varies as does fatness. Fat font serifs can be pricey. Lots of things to look at over on VRF
