the_derv
Hi All, Been a lurker for a few weeks so apologies that my first post is a question instead of an introduction! Just purchased my first high grade replica, I chose the 500m because I have always wanted a TAG since I was a little boy, and I liked the idea of the swiss movement at a price that seemed reasonable. After an agonising and exciting wait I received my watch this morning from a trusted dealer on this fantastic forum. I love it, i really do but I have a small issue and I don't know what to do about it. The quality of the rep is excellent, but the TAG emblem on the face of the watch is very slightly off-centre, I have massive OCD when it comes to symmetry and this will really sour my experience. It wasn't evident from the QC pics because they were not taken perfectly straight on. I really do not know what to do now, I am not one for complaining and I am really pleased with the service I got from this dealer, and I also cant face having to wait another month to finally wear it. I don't think I can live with the fault though. There is also one other very minor flaw in that the Tag Heuer embossed font on the internal movement appears to have bled very slightly and looks scruffy. I can live with this as it's not going to be in my face 24/7. Plus If I want 100% perfection I need to spend the real money on a Gen :-) The way I see it I have 3 choices. 1) Live with it (Can't do that) - I know it's a rep but it was still nearly £230 including postage so I should be happy with it right? 2) Get it fixed here in the UK by a specialist (best option if it wont cost alot of money, any suggestions who?) 3) Complain and send it back for a replacement which will take weeks :-( Your assistance and expertise on the matter would be gratefully received. Thank you, Ben
sgtguk
I'm no expert with how that logo is stuck on there so not sure if it can be modded to shift it, def off though mate just checked mine and it's in the centre but mine is a pretty old one now (18mths) are you on RWI? if so bonesey is a great modder in Uk afaik you could try him. Failing that speak to the TD concerned and get it swopped out, bloody qc pics are a pita at times because of the angled shots (but better than none!) and see where you go from there, would cost you to send off though and waiting time so bear that against cost of the mod to fix it! devilseam
Wow thats miles out! Would bug me too. Did it not show up on the QC pics?
the_derv
Thanks for your replies gentlemen. I did study the QC pics pretty hard and I didn't notice. The only QC pic with a face on view is the one below and now I know what I'm looking for it's obvious its out, kicking myself really. I have mailed the TD to see what he suggests, but as you say, once i've posted it and waited etc, it might be more cost/time effective to have it repaired in the UK if thats possible. I am properly in love with this watch regardless, just can't wait to get it fixed/replaced. I'm not on RWI, does anyone have any details for an alternative UK Modder the frequents this site? Thanks. the_derv
PS here's the QC shot, this is the only shot face on enough that I could have noticed and you can see there is a slight angle to the photo. Either way I should have noticed :-(

the_derv
I really cant thank you enough for your assistance, this is a very friendly forum and I'll certainly be sticking around here! sgtguk - Thanks for your PM and thank you for getting in touch with Bonesey for me. I will have to seek an alternative repairer..... If I could find someone who has dismantled one of these watches I might be brave enough to give it a go myself, but need to know how the emblem is stuck on there really. I also noticed one of the complaint about this rep is that the emblem is not as nicely machined on the rep as the genuine, this might be an opportunity to try and rectify that. Does anyone know where you can buy Gen Tag parts from? Thanks again, really appreciate it Edited July 24, 2013 by the_derv

ustmisha
Some Aquaracers have this issue. It's better to contact Your dealer and ask what he/she can do for you! Great watch by the ways. Like it and deciding between Omega v5 PO, Breitling SuperOcean Abyss and this one. All are great!Sent from my iPod touch using Tap-a-Talk
motoman83
Shame the watch has no AR. The crystals seem to have a foggy look without it. I reeaally want one but by the time I have it relumed and AR'd it would be a pretty pricey piece!
