Hi, can anyone recommend a good trustworth watch smith I can use to repair my 42mm pumpkin PO. It seems the battery reserve isn't holding any charge and the watch just stops after a couple of hours (...it used to remain charged overnight!) any help would be most welcome. Thanks

...apologies, perhaps "power reserve" is a better description than a "battery". It's an automatic movement which ordinarily would wind itself throughout the day with general movement. Originally a days wrist wear would easily wind the watch enough to last at least 12 hours if left still. This has now degraded to a point where even after a weeks wear the watch comes to a stop after maybe 2 hours.

Sounds possibly like the mainspring is dirty, old and the oil has hardened to the point it's impeding the action of the spring. Either that or you could have worn/damaged/dirty pivots/jewels.

A service would be what's really called for as the ETA movements found in the "Swiss" movement reps are not new but are in fact very old and often dirty and in dire need of a complete overhaul.

Asian movements are new but often poorly oiled which can lead to problems and again a service would cure that giving you effectively a watch that'll work well for several years to come.

Rolexman is great however he's based in the Netherlands and he has a waiting list. You could PM him to find out how soon he could service your watch.
