sputim
First of all I would appreciate if an expert could tell me wheter this is gen or not and moreover if 200usd is a good price for the whole stuff? The "40" one the bezel looks strange, doesn't it? The pearl looks very gen to me only this "40" seems strange. Appreciate your inputs
polexpete
200 bucks is a bargain if everything is gen. Best to check out the seller before you check out his goods. Whats his pedigree, where's it coming from. If you have more detailed pics it would help Cheers P.
sputim
Thanks for your answer! So here are all photos I can get. Its a local Swiss seller and he has 98 out of 99 positive feedbacks but no clue what his former auctions were. So he states that these are orig. parts for rolex ref. Model 14060-M or 14060. Basically I only need the black lunette for my tc sub i wanna acquire. So would this one fit the maxi dial tc sub?
alligoat
The bezel insert is older, but in good condition. If it's for a 14060, it won't fit a 16610, it's slightly smaller.Crystal for a 14060 is smaller also and won't fit the 16610.Other parts will, but the hands will fit a 3000/3130 or 3135 Rolex movt, not an eta. tick-tock
First of all I would appreciate if an expert could tell me wheter this is gen or not and moreover if 200usd is a good price for the whole stuff? The "40" one the bezel looks strange, doesn't it? The pearl looks very gen to me only this "40" seems strange. Appreciate your inputs FWIW, I have been sourcing bezel inserts for 2 (latest version) of the BK/(TC) 16610 which are in build right now. First thing I learned is that the "40" on the dial is not much help unless it is sloppy. Next thing is that there are at least 3, and maybe 4, different "40"s for the 14060 and the 16610 cases.. One is "thin" and goes to a point (inside the 4) with a tiny bit of flatenning at the top of the 4. ex: http://tinyurl.com/lwak56q One is semi"fat" and flatens off slightly in, and at the top of the 4 Then there is a "fat" one which really flattens off at the top of the 4 (Like your example). in a 16610, it can flatten big at the top, but still be "thin" ex http://tinyurl.com/p5obyyl As pointed out, for the case build accessories ie Crystal, bezel/insert kit, bracelet.... you need 16610 components or ones that fall under the 16800 (not 1680) broader classification group. The hands' spec is driven by the movement, Calbre or ETA, or Asian etc That "40" was making me crazy while I was looking. IMHO, the pearl in the insert is a clue for gen, but I think vetting the reliability/reputation of the seller is prolly the best thing we can do. Again from my search and IMHO2, the14060 parts are slighly less costly than the 16610 parts, with the 5XXX series of cases more costly of the 3 cases-build. polexpete
Well as Alligoat says, unless you building a franken 14060 then forget it. You see when there seems a bargain in the vintage Rollie world there is always a catch. Good lesson everyone ... Cheers P.

sputim
Thanks for your very interesting info! Always keen to learn new stuff. Im not that long into this hobby but I just bought some essential stuff to open a watch and replace hands, dial, movement and so on. Maybe raising my funds a little bit and start a franken in the near future! Good to know that there are experts like you around who are so helpful. I appreciate that!
