Which would you buy

It's very difficult in that price range lately as many price have gone up in recent years, although some nice quartz Tags available. If you can push your budget up to around $250 ish then you are in the range of a really nice aquaracer 500m or Carrera chrono a7750.

Some ok ish quartz available though if the budget is rigid:

As I said elsewhere mate if on tight budget use a smaller dealer..... $170 on TT will be about $150 on smaller delaer plus cheaper shipping so you can aim a little higher... so if you see a $220 200 on TT you probaly hit your $170ish range with smaller dealers...

Personally I would look at other brands with that budget...I think you could get something much better rep wise than a TAG...

Also check out TDs section as they sometimes offer deals in there that are less than site deals.... special offers I guess you could say... not just here but other rep forums too and check out member sales too...some good value to be had there too :)

Agree Pete, not gonna make much ground with the bigger dealers + shipping at that budget.

Trevor had a sale on recently, not sure if still going but had some really nice a7750 @ around $150. Plenty of good stuff to be had, shop around is best.

Sead (supermirrors) had some really good deal on a pam 026k and iwc mark xvii not so long ago!

You can send that link to smaller dealers see what they price it at ? :) Remember you will save at least $20 on shipping doing that rather than trusty...

Thanks for all the info guys, it seems like what I have been getting are the budget reps, but im not exactly loaded and I like the "look" of some of them. I have a friend who has went to a place where there are lots of reps to buy in bulk today.... He has just sent me some pics of some tags and I have bought 2.... £20 each. I will post pics when he returns (3hrs).

All the reps I have had have been less than £30 and have all kept good time and I have  never had a problem with them.

I may now be know as 'Budget Boy' and post my pics of the budget end of the rep watch scale ;)

You have  been lucky  receiving so much input for your question.   It used to be that replies to your question would be answered with remarks like:"do your homework", "do some reserach first", "plenty of trusted dealers in that section of the forum." I think the honest and humble nature of your quetion did the trick. I think if you follow the suggestions in the thread yo can't go wrong.

Good luck in your search !!!

Well as promised here are the pics of the last 2 budget reps I EVER buy, they were £20 each and are to add to my collection of work watches.... After viewing these forums the past few days and looking on trusted seller sites, the watches that I own, and thought were "good fakes" now look very poor to me, I don't know weather I should be happy or sad ;)

OK, so im looking at buying my first rep from Trusty Time...my budget is $100 - $170.... and I like the TAG watches, which would you guys go for, and I know that everyone is different but im looking for the best for this price range..... Thanks alot :)

That's a toughy. Even Andrews specials are $148. They are pretty good though for noob-mariners. I bought a ton of them when he use to sell them for $98. But they have actually improved in quality quite a bit from 2 years ago. Of course, better quality = more money.

You will not be disappointed with anything that you buy from Andrew. He's the only TD I go with. Keep an eye out on the trade section also. A lot of cool dudes and most often the deals are pretty smooth. You'll definitely find some great bargains and a lot of custom works.
