B12b12 Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 Hello All so I have a watch bought from a TD ... just worn it this week , and already the glass has loads of faint scratches .... Have I misunderstood; on my genuine watches that had sapphire this never happened ? Have I been diddled or is that just the way it is ? Much thanks S
AKTime Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 Sounds like you got one with a mineral glass crystal, I am rough as all hell on my watches and the ones with sapphire crystals have no scratches at all.
FxrAndy Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 Are you sure the crystal is scratched and not just the AR coating?
B12b12 Posted March 28, 2014 Author Report Posted March 28, 2014 no im not sure ... actually I would not be able to tell if it as the AR would I ??? Im going to try the water drop test .... report back in a bit
B12b12 Posted March 28, 2014 Author Report Posted March 28, 2014 hmmm , inconclusive .... I am thinking it could be the AR ....
icoopernicus Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 What is the watch? does the crystal even have AR? I have several AR'd sapphire crystals and none of them exhibit the kind of scratching that you are describing. Maybe some pics would also help determine what the problem might be.
B12b12 Posted March 29, 2014 Author Report Posted March 29, 2014 Its a montbrillant datora ; I will try and get a picture in the daylight tomorrow ; they are very very fine ; so might have to get out my 105mm macro lens :-)
