Need Help For Shortening Panerai Crown Guard

V

Recommended Posts

As you already know I got the new lefty 239 just to put the crown guard to my franken 022 destro.

Well it fits the holes perfectly but it is taller than it should be and the lever doesn't touch and push the crown.

I tried to file down the cg but it doesn't seem to become any lower..

Do you have any suggstions, or who is willing to do it for me? (i will pay him of course)

I used sanding paper, I used a battery powered cheap dremel and the amount of metal i take off is minimum... :(

Can you take a picture of what you're trying to sand down? I assume the side that mates with the case, right? But that isn't exactly flat, is it? Either way, sand paper isn't the right tool.

Yeah that side.. the two parts of the crown guard that meet with the case :)

Sandpaper works fine, you just need to make sure the sandpaper is laying on a flat surface and move the crownguard across it while keeping it properly aligned with the original profile of the bottom of the crown guard.

Be careful with how much material you take off of the bottom of the crown guard, the way the hole is countersunk, if your not careful you can wind up with nothing but the case for the bottom of the head of the screw to rest on.
